PVC pipe

I was amazed again today.  I visited a site that had PVC (sch 80 pipe and fittings) mounted to the outside of a marina bulkhead that was installed in the mid 1980's and used to handle gasoline.  No problems showing.  I'll be removing the pipe next week and will inspect it closer.

Has anyone else seen this?  Someone in the Morehead City, NC area was using PVC for gas and diesel in the 80's and seems to have had success with it.  I think it's amazing.

Wow that is amazing especially when the sun is beating on it in the summer time since the 80's.I remember I talked to an old timer once and he experimented with som SCH 40 PVC.He put to small joints together and left in a can of gas for a month and said there wasn't any deteriation. But a month vs. 20 or so years is no comparision at all.I personally only seen PVC used to manifold vent racks only.
Have seen 4" PVC used as fill risers on diesel tanks in and around Atlanta. PVC however has a poor tank roll shear value when attached to an underground storage tank. Of the ones found all had sheared and been a source of water ingress. Fuel line use in a marina application for pressurized product delivery I would thing a bit risky. Post pictures here if you find them to be other than water drain conduit.
I once tected a K1 line in NGA that was using PVC that actually ran from back of building under the store to k1 suction system. Retested same line like 3 years later with no problems
