Some news about Marie Pierre

Although this isn't strictly PO related, I thought I'd tell you about an amusing conversation I had last night.

I was in a pub with my professional media colleagues, and one of them started telling me that she unwound by walking with a group of friends, and had recently returned from a break in Cumbria.

She said that their group had come across a partially reopened Youth Hostel and been invited inside so they could eat lunch in the warm by the couple who run the place: "a man and a French girl.."

Me: "That's Marie Pierre - a friend of mine!"

Apparently M-P and her boyfriend are moving along with the renovations, so all seems well.  (though they do not have access to electronic comms).

Small world innit!!

Enjoy it while it lasts - peak oil will make the world bigger again soon.

I'm wonder if the expression "it's a small world" will persist after oil, given that we use it figuratively most of the time. Here in London, people might use it if they bump into someone they know in Oxford Street; and, of course, as we all know, London isn't the world.

I think Marie-Pierre is very brave to have opted for living in such a remote place but I'm sure it'll be good for developing her self-reliance skills.
They'll probably one of the hostels on the main east west pack horse route.
