More on OLGA, black oil model and choke modeling
Objective: To model the J-T effect in a subsea choke in OLGA using the Black Oil model during startup.
Desired Results: Thermal and hydraulic behavior of fluid downstream of the choke.
Questions:
1. Can I easily obtain isenthalpic data for Black Oil model at any combination of P-V-T?
2. Can I simply model the portion downstream of the choke?
3. I am thinking of placing an infinite source of fluid at constant pressure and temperature just a little upstream of the choke. Will this be possible and/or accurate?

1. not qute sure what you mean? Exactly what isenthalpic data do you want to obtain?
2. I assume you mean do you have to model piping upstream of the choke as well? Generally I say yes, even 1 or two sections of pipe will help settle the flow, prior to the choke, it never hurts and will not slow the the computation.
3. What else are you going to do? You could model it as a source, but really how is that different? In this simulation there is only 3 degrees of freedom, the opening of the choke, the pressure downstream of the choke, and the pressure upstream of the choke OR the flowrate through the choke. |
